Mr. Silverstein’s Violin
Mr. Silverstein will be playing on a violin made by Joseph Guarnerius del Jesu in 1742. The violin was the concert instrument of the 19th century virtuoso Camilla Urso who played on this violin as a soloist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra in 1881, the first year of the symphony’s existence. The violin has been heard on many recordings of both solo and chamber music repertoire, most notably Mr. Silverstein’s Grammy nominated recordings with the BSO chamber players, Vivaldi’s Seasons, and performances with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.

A private setting in South Egremont, MA
This benefit performance will take place in an 1850’s barn on private property in South Egremont, MA. The grand old barn was dismantled at its original site on a farm in rural New York state, then re-erected and renovated in a park-like setting at its new home. The interior of the barn has been modified only slightly, leaving the full volume and grandeur of the barn intact. The ambiance and acoustics of the barn are excellent, making it an ideal location for this celebratory occasion.
